Job summary

Ship Inn is seeking a Night Porter to provide a welcoming guest experience and maintain safety across front-of-house areas. You will check in late arrivals and walk-ins, handle inquiries, and support breakfast area setup as needed.

You will contribute to a safe, friendly environment, assist with cleaning tasks, and participate in safety procedures, including evacuations when required. This role offers flexible shifts and a supportive team atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Be the first point of contact when guests check in and arrive late.
• Provide a warm, friendly, genuine welcome to guests.
• Maintain front-of-house areas, breakfast spaces, and assist with meeting room setup as needed.
• Prioritise guest safety and security at all times.
• Assist in fire evacuations and guest safety drills as required.
• Answer phones, handle guest inquiries and resolve complaints professionally.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for check-ins and walk-ins.
• Ensure a warm, friendly and genuine welcome to all guests.
• Assist with cleaning tasks in front of house and breakfast areas, and setup of meeting rooms as needed.
• Maintain guest safety and security as a top priority at all times.
• Evacuate guests and team calmly and efficiently in case of fire or alarm.
• Answer telephone enquiries and resolve guest complaints to ensure a pleasant stay.
