Job summary

M O'Brien Plant Hire is seeking a motivated, customer-focused Business Development Manager to expand the company's client base in the south of the UK and strengthen existing customer relationships.

You will drive business development activities, secure sustainable growth, manage key accounts and prepare quotations, while liaising with internal teams to ensure timely equipment updates and service delivery. A strong focus on customer service and communication is essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in construction plant rental or sales.
• Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Customer-service focused with a can-do attitude.
• Experience using CRM to drive sales opportunities.
• Strong communication across departments and with clients.
• Good diary management and deadline adherence.
• Comfortable presenting to audiences.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work.

Responsibilities

• Identify and onboard new customers to grow the client base in the south of the UK.
• Secure sustainable business growth and manage existing accounts.
• Maintain strong customer relations and support SHEQ initiatives.
• Generate quotations and customer pricing agreements.
• Handle customer queries and manage preliminary aged debt.
• Coordinate with internal teams for equipment ETA updates.
• Assist breakdowns or service visits and report progress.
• Lead tender presentations to new customers and contribute to large tenders.
