Job summary

Venture Recruitment Partners are working exclusively with a Hampshire-based SME to recruit a Group Management Accountant in the Southampton area. The role reports to the Group Financial Controller and offers broad exposure to management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and business partnering across several entities.

You will deliver monthly management accounts, maintain strong controls, analyse performance against budgets and prepare insightful reports for senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).
• Experience with SMEs or multi-entity environments.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, schedules).
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain internal controls.
• Analyse performance against budgets/forecasts and explain variances.
• Prepare commentary and management reports for senior stakeholders.
• Support budgeting/forecasting and business partnering with operations.
• Assist with year-end audit queries and external auditor requests.
• Contribute to process improvements in finance reporting and controls.

Group Management Accountant

Southampton Area | £55,000 - £65,000

Venture Recruitment Partners are working exclusively with a growing and successful Hampshire-based SME to recruit a Group Management Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to join a multi-entity organisation in a highly visible role, supporting senior leadership with financial insight, reporting and commercial decision-making.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting across several business entities. The position offers broad exposure to management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, business partnering and process improvement within a growing group environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and supporting schedules.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong financial controls.
• Analyse financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying key trends and variances.
• Prepare insightful commentary and management reports for senior stakeholders.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes across the business.
• Partner with operational leaders to improve financial performance and decision-making.
• Assist with year-end audit requirements and external auditor queries.
• Deliver ad hoc commercial analysis, reporting and finance projects.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of finance processes, controls and reporting.

About You

You will be a fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) with strong management accounting experience gained in a SME environment or be looking for a move from a medium sized professional practice where you have prepared accounts for SMEs. We’re looking for someone who is curious, continuous improvements focused with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders. Advanced Excel skills, commercial awareness and a proactive approach will be key to success in this role.
