Responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts with P&L, balance sheet and schedules.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain financial controls.
• Analyse performance vs budgets/forecasts; identify variances and trends.
• Prepare commentary and reports for senior stakeholders.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes across the group.
• Partner with operational leaders to improve financial performance.
• Assist with year-end audit and respond to external queries.
• Deliver ad hoc analysis and finance projects.
• Contribute to process and reporting improvements.

Group Management Accountant

Southampton Area £55,000 - £65,000

Venture Recruitment Partners are working exclusively with a growing and successful Hampshire-based SME to recruit a Group Management Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to join a multi-entity organisation in a highly visible role, supporting senior leadership with financial insight, reporting and commercial decision-making.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting across several business entities. The position offers broad exposure to management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, business partnering and process improvement within a growing group environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and supporting schedules.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong financial controls.
• Analyse financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying key trends and variances.
• Prepare insightful commentary and management reports for senior stakeholders.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes across the business.
• Partner with operational leaders to improve financial performance and decision-making.
• Assist with year-end audit requirements and external auditor queries.
• Deliver ad hoc commercial analysis, reporting and finance projects.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of finance processes, controls and reporting.

About You

You will be a fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) with strong management accounting experience gained in a SME environment or be looking for a move from a medium sized professional practice where you have prepared accounts for SMEs. We re looking for someone who is curious, continuous improvements focused with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders. Advanced Excel skills, commercial awareness and a proactive approach will be key to success in this role.
