Job description
Role Profile

The Group Accountant is responsible for managing and reporting the financial consolidation and performance of the group, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of consolidated financial information. This role oversees group-wide financial reporting processes, prepares consolidated financial statements, and supports budgeting, forecasting, and audit activities. The Group Accountant works closely with the Accounting Team to maintain consistent accounting practices, monitor intercompany transactions, and ensure adherence to GAAP and internal controls. The position contributes to continuous improvement of financial systems and reporting processes across the group. This role is central to ensuring accurate statutory and management reporting, maintaining a robust control environment, and supporting strategic financial decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
Group Reporting & Consolidation
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP.
  • Manage the quarterly consolidated financial results reporting to the group's parent company.
  • Manage intercompany reconciliations, eliminations, and foreign currency adjustments.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and continual improvement of group reporting processes.
Statutory Accounts & Compliance
  • Assist with the preparation of annual statutory accounts for the group and subsidiary entities.
  • Liaise with external auditors to support the year-end audit, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Ensure the group complies with all relevant UK financial regulations and reporting standards.
Management Accounting & Analysis
  • Produce insightful financial analysis, variance commentary, and group-level KPIs for senior leadership.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including consolidation of business unit budgets.
  • Identify risks and opportunities to improve financial performance.
Financial Controls & Governance
  • Review subsidiary submissions for accuracy and completeness, providing guidance where necessary.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures across the group.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
  • Contribute to finance transformation initiatives, systems improvements, and process optimisation.
  • Assist with ERP/reporting system enhancements and automation projects.
  • Support strategic projects such as corporate restructuring and acquisitions, and.
Candidate Requirements
  • Professional Accountancy - Full or Part Qualification. Actively studying and near the end of ACCA/CIMA/CA/ACA.
  • Either have trained within a reputable accountancy firm or will have experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in a multi-currency and/or international group environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Agresso, Sage).
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge of UK GAAP.
  • Proven experience in group consolidation and multi-entity reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
