Job summary

The Best Connection is hiring a Grounds Maintenance Operative in Whitehaven, Cumbria. This role runs Monday–Friday, 8:00–16:00 with immediate start, paying £13.08 per hour. You will perform groundskeeping tasks, routine cleaning, and basic upkeep while working outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Remove fly tipping and litter to maintain cleanliness and safety.
• Maintain hedges and grass areas and assist with general repairs as needed.

We are looking for a reliable and competent Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our busy Whitehaven team!

Job Title: Grounds Maintenance Operative

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday (08:00-16:00)

Start Date: Immediate

Location: Whitehaven, Cumbria

What You'll Be Doing:

• Cleaning and maintaining signs and benches to ensure they remain presentable and safe
• Mowing and caring for grassed areas to keep outdoor spaces tidy and welcoming
• Planting flowers and maintaining landscaped areas to enhance the environment
• Removing fly tipping and other litter to maintain cleanliness and safety
• Maintaining hedges and grass areas
• Assisting with general repairs and upkeep as required

What We're Looking For:

• Some experience in maintenance or groundskeeping is preferred, but candidates with limited experience will also be considered and given full training
• A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn new skills
• Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliability and a strong work ethic
• Driving license required

Working Hours & Pay:

• Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm
• £13.08 per hour
