Job summary

AECOM in St Albans is seeking a Graduate Process Engineer to join the Water team. You will work on a variety of water and wastewater projects as part of a dynamic hybrid team, gaining hands-on experience from concept through to design and delivery.

The role emphasizes process flow diagrams, mass balance, and scale-up calculations, with opportunities to participate in HAZOPs, client meetings and site surveys.

Qualifications

• Ambition to work towards Chartered Engineer status with IChemE or CIWEM.
• Excellent report writing, communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to travel to meet project needs is desirable
• Analytical and problem solving, attention to detail and creative thinking
• Experience in design and build projects would be advantageous although not essential
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office and Teams
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit would be an advantage
• Commercial awareness and willingness to learn
• Ability to take direction with a positive attitude
• Interest in municipal water and wastewater treatment and related design standards
• A keen interest in functional safety (HAZOP studies)

Responsibilities

• Prepare process flow diagrams and mass balance calculations.
• Develop process engineering calculations and unit operation sizing.
• Undertake asset surveys and site visits as required.
• Conduct feasibility and optioneering studies for wastewater processes.
• Participate in HAZOPs and client meetings as technical secretary or scribe.
• Communicate with clients and stakeholders to ensure alignment.
• Ensure technical documents meet standards and QA procedures.
• Support process commissioning on site where appropriate.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams for integrated solutions.
