Job summary

Graduate Engineer (Civil/Structural) role in the UK with a hybrid working model based in Glasgow. You will join COWI’s Civil and Structural team on infrastructure projects, supporting professional development toward Chartered Engineer status.

You will work on designs, analyses, and client communications, with mentorship and on-the-job learning as part of a structured development plan.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng, BSc, MEng, MSc).
• Aspirations to become a Chartered Engineer.
• Some experience of working in an engineering environment (e.g., year in industry or summer placements).
• Demonstrable interest in engineering and technical excellence.
• Ability to work in a diverse, multidisciplinary team.
• Good communication skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Producing engineering designs, assessments, and evaluations per project requirements.
• Performing analysis using computer modelling; creating, reading, and interpreting technical material.
• Translating engineering concepts and solutions into presentations, reports, sketches, drawings, and infographics that communicate their value to clients and stakeholders.
• Contributing to the dissemination of engineering good practice and implementation of in-house tools such as carbon calculation tooling.
• Learning to identify potential health & safety, design, and commercial risks on our projects and mitigate them.
• Delivering your own work to a high technical standard with thorough self-checking.
• Attending site visits or client meetings.
