Job summary

COWI in Glasgow is seeking a Graduate Engineer (Highways and Drainage) for the Summer Intake 2027. You will design roads and drainage systems, collaborate with experienced engineers, and pursue a development plan toward Chartership through mentoring and real-world assignments.

You will produce designs, communicate complex ideas through visuals and reports, and contribute to diverse infrastructure projects while balancing project budgets and schedules in a hybrid office/home setup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Aspiration to gain professional recognition (I Eng or C Eng).
• Understanding of Digital Automation and BIM.
• Some engineering experience (e.g., year in industry or summer placements).
• Demonstrate technical excellence and strong communication.
• Able to work in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Produce designs for new infrastructure and assess existing infrastructure.
• Translate complex concepts into presentations, reports, sketches and infographics for clients and stakeholders.
• Carry out data collection, analysis, calculation development, and collaboration to deliver high-quality work.
• Contribute to engineering best practice and support in-house tools (including carbon calculation).
• Plan workload with project manager and track progress against budget and programme.
• Own your work with careful self-checking and accountability.
