COWI is recruiting a Graduate Engineer (Civil/Structural) for the Derby summer intake 2027. This permanent, office/home hybrid role offers exposure to tunnelling and underground structures, with a path toward Chartered Engineer status.

You will work on climate-smart, high-profile UK projects and receive a tailored development plan and mentoring from seasoned engineers. You will contribute to design and analysis tasks, gain experience in presentations and client communications, and benefit from

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Aspiration to become Chartered Engineer.
• Some experience of working in an engineering environment (e.g., year in industry or summer placements).
• Demonstrable understanding and interest in engineering and technical excellence.
• Ability and willingness to work in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team.
• Good communication skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Producing engineering designs, assessments, and evaluations per project requirements.
• Performing analysis using computer modelling and interpreting technical material.
• Translating engineering concepts into presentations, reports, drawings and infographics for clients and stakeholders.
• Contributing to dissemination of engineering best practice and use of in-house tools (e.g., carbon calculation tool).
• Identifying potential health & safety, design and commercial risks and helping mitigate them.
• Delivering work to a high technical standard with thorough self-checking.
• Attending site visits or client meetings.
