Job summary

Join COWI in York as a Graduate Engineer in the Tunnels & Underground Structures team. You will work on climate-smart tunnelling projects, supported toward your Chartered Engineer ambitions, and develop through structured professional development plans.

You will co-create on prestigious UK infrastructure programmes, collaborate with engineers across disciplines, and contribute to high-quality technical outputs while developing your career.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng, BSc, MEng, MSc).
• Aspirations to become a Chartered Engineer.
• Some experience of working in an engineering environment (such as a year in industry or summer placements).
• Demonstrable understanding and interest in engineering and a personal commitment to technical excellence.
• Ability and willingness to work in a diverse and multi-disciplinary team.
• Good communication skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Producing engineering designs, assessments, and evaluations in accordance with project requirements.
• Performing analysis using computer modelling; creating, reading, and interpreting technical material.
• Translating engineering concepts and solutions into presentations, reports, sketches, drawings, and infographics that communicate their essence and demonstrate their value to our clients and key stakeholders.
• Contributing to the dissemination of engineering good practice and implementation of our in-house tools such as the carbon calculation tool.
• Learning to identify potential health & safety, design, and commercial risks on our projects and contribute towards mitigating them.
• Delivering your own work to a high technical standard, ensuring accuracy through a diligent and thorough approach to self-checking.
• Attending site visits or client meetings.
