Job summary

AL8238 UK Grid Solutions Limited seeks a Senior Primary Design Engineer to lead HV/EHV substation design and delivery with global teams, ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory standards.

You will provide technical leadership, review 3D models and drawings, and coordinate with civil, protection & control, and system studies while mentoring junior engineers and delivering to schedule.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Power/Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 5–7 years’ HV substation design experience preferred; 3+ years accepted.
• Strong knowledge of UK Transmission and Distribution standards.
• Proficiency in CAD; BIM/3D tools like Revit/Navisworks advantageous.
• Familiarity with CDM regulations and safe‑by‑design principles.
• Excellent communication skills with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate global engineering teams in HV/EHV substation design.
• Deliver primary plant designs (AIS, GIS, HVDC) per standards.
• Develop and review integrated 3D models and drawings.
• Review vendor drawings to ensure project alignment.
• Ensure compliance with UK CDM 2015 and other regulations.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
• Interface with clients, stakeholders and suppliers on technical queries.
