Job summary

Deploy Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Senior Primary Design Engineer to lead high-quality primary engineering designs for HV substations and power infrastructure. The role blends technical delivery with mentoring junior engineers and close collaboration with project managers and clients.

The position supports hybrid or remote working, maintaining strong ties to project teams while enabling flexibility for UK-wide assignments.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Significant experience in primary design within HV substations (e.g. 33kV-400kV).
• Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of primary engineering solutions for HV substations and associated infrastructure.
• Produce and review primary design deliverables including layouts, GA drawings, equipment specifications, and technical reports.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, client specifications, and safety requirements.
• Provide technical guidance, checking, and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Interface with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support project planning, cost estimates, and risk assessment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
