Job summary

Deploy Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Senior Primary Design Engineer to lead HV substation primary engineering designs for major power projects. Hybrid or remote work is available, with strong collaboration with project managers and multidisciplinary teams.

You will mentor junior engineers, review deliverables, and ensure compliance with UK and international standards while interfacing with clients and contractors throughout project lifecycles.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience in primary design for HV substations (33kV-400kV).
• Knowledge of UK/international standards and utility requirements.
• Experience leading design tasks and reviewing others' work.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.
• Chartered Engineer status or progress towards it (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of primary engineering solutions for HV substations and related infrastructure.
• Produce and review primary design deliverables including layouts, GA drawings, equipment specs, and reports.
• Ensure designs comply with standards, client specs, and safety requirements.
• Provide technical guidance, checking and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Interface with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders throughout projects.
• Support project planning, cost estimates and risk assessment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
