Job summary

Holroyd Howe in Cambridge is seeking a General Assistant to support our education catering service at a prestigious independent boarding school. You will help with daily kitchen tasks, food service and front-of-house duties to ensure high standards of cleanliness and excellent student meals.

Working as part of a friendly team, you will receive training on safety and customer service, with opportunities for development.

Qualifications

• Experience in education catering is preferred.
• Experience with food preparation is desirable.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Clean pots, pans, plates and cutlery to high hygiene standards.
• Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently.
• Clean floors, surfaces, walls and appliances to safety standards.
• Assist in preparation and serving of meals according to menus.
• Maintain front of house cleanliness and organise dishes.
• Follow proper food handling and storage procedures for safety.
• Monitor inventory levels and report shortages.
• Provide friendly service to students and staff during meals.
• Participate in training on food safety and customer service.
• Ideally have experience in education catering.
• Have food preparation skills and experience.

Job description

• Maintain high hygiene standards, cleaning pots, pans, plates and cutlery
• Ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently
• Cleaning of kitchen floors, work surfaces, walls and appliances to safety standards
• Assist in the preparation and serving of breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner according to established menus and recipes.
• Maintain cleanliness of the front of house areas including organising dishes and utensils.
• Following proper food handling and storage procedures to ensure food safety and prevent contamination.
• Monitor inventory levels of food and supplies and notify management of any shortages or discrepancies.
• Provide friendly and efficient service to students and staff during mealtimes, addressing any concerns or special dietary needs.
• Participate in training sessions and meeting related to food service procedures, safety protocols, and customer service standards.
