Job summary

Holroyd Howe seeks a Food Service Assistant/General Assistant/Catering Assistant for one of our prestigious education settings in Hull. This role supports breakfast and lunch service, with additional hospitality duties, six days a week with one rota day per month.

You will help deliver fresh meals and a high standard of service to pupils and staff. The position is term-time only, 25 hours per week (9:30–14:30), with opportunities for training and development within our education catering teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in providing food service in an education setting is desirable.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Good health & safety awareness and food handling knowledge.
• Ability to work well in a team and on a rota basis.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and serving of breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner according to established menus and recipes.
• Maintain cleanliness of front-of-house areas and organise dishes and utensils.
• Follow food handling and storage procedures to ensure safety and prevent contamination.
• Monitor stock levels and notify management of shortages or discrepancies.
• Provide friendly, efficient service to pupils and staff during mealtimes and accommodate dietary needs.
• Participate in ongoing training on food service procedures and safety standards.

Nestled in the heart of Hull, this prestigious independent school caters for 700 - 800 day pupils as well as staff and includes not only a breakfast & lunch service but also an extensive hospitality service. This operates 6 days a week. Day 6 is required at least once a month on a rota basis. • Assist in the preparation and serving of breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner according to established menus and recipes.
• Maintain cleanliness of the front of house areas including organising dishes and utensils.
• Following proper food handling and storage procedures to ensure food safety and prevent contamination.
• Monitor inventory levels of food and supplies and notify management of any shortages or discrepancies.
• Provide friendly and efficient service to students and staff during mealtimes, addressing any concerns or special dietary needs.
• Participate in training sessions and meeting related to food service procedures, safety protocols, and customer service standards. Ideally have experience working within Education catering
• Have good Health & Safety knowledge.
