Job summary

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Pathway Navigator to support patients on the Suspected 2WW Lower GI Pathway. You will track and coordinate patient journeys, manage diagnostics and histology outcomes, and collaborate with clinical teams to maintain timely care.

Role focuses on ensuring high-quality patient care, supporting cancer performance standards, and coordinating pathways with consultants, nurses and admin teams.

Qualifications

• NVQ3 in Business Administration or equivalent
• GCSE Maths and English Equivalent
• Shorthand
• Experience of secretarial duties: diary management typing correspondence answering telephone queries audio typing
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Experience with MS Office and patient administration systems

Responsibilities

• Act as the key point of contact for patients on the Suspected 2WW Lower GI Pathway, supporting them throughout their diagnostic and treatment journey.
• Coordinate and track patient pathways to ensure timely progression in line with national cancer waiting time standards.
• Monitor diagnostic investigations, histology results, and clinical outcomes, escalating delays and concerns where appropriate.
• Work closely with consultants, specialist nurses, endoscopy teams, and administrative colleagues to facilitate efficient patient care.
• Maintain and update patient tracking systems, ensuring data quality and pathway accuracy.
• Monitor and manage patients awaiting results, ensuring timely follow-up and appropriate onward referrals.
• Assist with the management of clinical correspondence and support compliance with letter turnaround times.
