Job summary

Example Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced self-employed Gas Service & Repair Engineer to service clients in East Sussex, including Uckfield and Eastbourne. You will conduct gas safety checks, LGSRs and repairs with a flexible 3–5 day per week pattern and weekly invoicing.

This long-term self-employed contract offers consistent workload, pre-booked appointments, and Exsol diagnostic software on the supplied tablet to aid fault finding.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience as a domestic heating engineer.
• Current Gas Safe Registration and ACS qualifications CKR1 and HTR1.
• Calibrated flue gas analyser and suitable van required.

Responsibilities

• Perform Annual Gas Safety Checks and LGSRs.
• Carry out central heating repairs as required.
• Manage 6–8 pre-booked appointments per day across Uckfield and Eastbourne.
• Work on a self-employed basis with weekly payments.

Self-Employed Gas Service & Repair Engineer

Example Recruitment Group is currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established national heating contractor operating within the private sector.

We are looking for experienced self-employed Gas Service & Repair Engineers to join an established contract covering the East Sussex area. This is a long-term opportunity offering a consistent workload, weekly payments and the flexibility to choose your working pattern.

The Contract

• Locations: Uckfield & Eastbourne
• Work: Annual Gas Safety Checks, Landlord Gas Safety Records (LGSRs) and central heating repairs
• Workload: 6-8 pre-booked appointments per day
• Availability: Minimum commitment of 3 days per week, with up to 5 days available
• Additional earning opportunities: Optional evening call-outs and weekend work at enhanced rates
• Contract length: Ongoing with no fixed end date
• Payment: Weekly, one week in arrears

Rates

• Annual Gas Safety Check: £30.75 per appliance
• Completed Repair: £61.50 per property (all parts and van stock supplied)
• Repair completed during Annual Service: £46.13 plus the Annual Service Visit rate

Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience as a domestic heating engineer

• A suitable panel van (plain or sign-written)
• £2 million Public Liability Insurance
• No unspent criminal convictions
