Job summary

Example Recruitment Group is seeking experienced self-employed Gas Service & Repair Engineers to cover Stoke. Long-term role with consistent workload, weekly payments, and flexible patterns. You will handle annual safety checks, LGSRs, and central heating repairs for a local portfolio.

Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience, ACS CKR1/HTR1 and Gas Safe Registration are required, with a suitable van and insurance in place for ongoing work.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' post-qualification domestic heating experience.
• ACS CKR1 and HTR1 qualifications are current.
• Gas Safe Registration is active with compliance.
• Calibrated flue gas analyser and van access required.
• Public liability insurance and clean criminal record.

Responsibilities

• Perform annual Gas Safety Checks and LGSRs for pre-booked customers.
• Carry out central heating repairs and respond to issues as needed.
• Manage 6–8 pre-booked appointments daily with weekly pay.
• Use Exsol diagnostic software on supplied tablet for faults.

Self-Employed Gas Service & Repair Engineer

Example Recruitment Group is currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established national heating contractor operating within the private sector.

We are looking for experienced self-employed Gas Service & Repair Engineers to join an established contract covering the Stoke area. This is a long-term opportunity offering a consistent workload, weekly payments and the flexibility to choose your working pattern.

The Contract

• Locations: Stoke
• Work: Annual Gas Safety Checks, Landlord Gas Safety Records (LGSRs) and central heating repairs
• Workload: 6–8 pre-booked appointments per day
• Availability: Minimum commitment of 3 days per week, with up to 5 days available
• Additional earning opportunities: Optional evening call-outs and weekend work at enhanced rates
• Contract length: Ongoing with no fixed end date
• Payment: Weekly, one week in arrears

Rates

• Annual Gas Safety Check: £23.06 per appliance
• Completed Repair: £41.00 per property (all parts and van stock supplied)
• Repair completed during Annual Service: £30.75 plus the Annual Service Visit rate

Requirements

To be considered, you'll need:

• A minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience as a domestic heating engineer
• Current ACS qualifications including CKR1 and HTR1
• Current Gas Safe Registration
• A calibrated flue gas analyser
• A suitable panel van (plain or sign-written)
• £2 million Public Liability Insurance
• No unspent criminal convictions
