Job summary

Example Recruitment Group is seeking experienced self-employed Gas Service & Repair Engineers for a Derby-based contract. You will handle Annual Gas Safety Checks, LGSRs and central heating repairs on pre-booked visits, with a workload of 6–8 appointments daily and the option to work 3–5 days per week.

The role offers weekly payments, long-term continuity, and full support with van stock, PPE, and diagnostic tools provided to streamline fault finding.

Qualifications

• Domestic heating engineer with 2+ years post-qualification experience.
• Current ACS qualifications CKR1 and HTR1.
• Gas Safe Registration is mandatory.
• Calibrated flue gas analyser is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform Annual Gas Safety Checks and LGSRs.
• Carry out central heating repairs as needed.
• Manage 6-8 pre-booked appointments per day.
• Work a minimum of 3 days per week, up to 5 days.

Example Recruitment Group is currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established national heating contractor operating within the private sector.

We are looking for experienced self-employed Gas Service & Repair Engineers to join an established contract covering the Derby area. This is a long-term opportunity offering a consistent workload, weekly payments and the flexibility to choose your working pattern.

The Contract

• Location: Derby
• Work: Annual Gas Safety Checks, Landlord Gas Safety Records (LGSRs) and central heating repairs
• Workload: 6-8 pre-booked appointments per day
• Availability: Minimum commitment of 3 days per week, with up to 5 days available
• Additional earning opportunities: Optional evening call-outs and weekend work at enhanced rates
• Contract length: Ongoing with no fixed end date
• Payment: Weekly, one week in arrears

Rates

• Annual Gas Safety Check: £23.06 per appliance
• Completed Repair: £41.00 per property (all parts and van stock supplied)
• Repair completed during Annual Service: £30.75 plus the Annual Service Visit rate

Requirements

To be considered, you'll need:

• A minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience as a domestic heating engineer
• Current ACS qualifications including CKR1 and HTR1
• Current Gas Safe Registration
• A calibrated flue gas analyser
• A suitable panel van (plain or sign-written)
• £2 million Public Liability Insurance
• No unspent criminal convictions
