Job summary

Volvo Trucks UK invites applications for Apprentice HGV Technician roles in Coventry. The 32‑month Advanced Level Apprenticeship combines hands‑on workshop work with block-release college training at Inspiro Heavy Vehicle Academy in Derby, delivering the Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Level 3.

Starting dates May or August 2027, the program includes training with Volvo tools, PPE, and a dedicated Development Coach.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and a desire to learn.
• Strong problem-solving skills and keen eye for detail.
• Excellent communication skills and a team player mentality.

Responsibilities

• Assist with repairs using Volvo Standard Times and Volvo tools.
• Assist in fault diagnosis process.
• Learn warranty procedures during repairs and with warranty material on completion of repair.
• Assist with ensuring correct replacement parts are fitted.
• Learn to use Volvo special tools safely and efficiently.
• Assist with keeping the workshop clean and organized.
• Ensure job cards are completed accurately and time recording procedures are followed.
• Report vehicle defects to the workshop Supervisor.
• Attend college courses regularly and meet course standards.
• Participate in technical or development training offered.
