Job summary

Chelmsford Star Co-op is seeking a Funeral Services Co-ordinator to manage diary and daily operations at allocated care centres. You will ensure high-quality care for families and those who have died, coordinating safety checks, paperwork, and stock control.

The role involves working with the Funeral Operations Lead to develop staff skills, monitor budgets, and ensure compliant service delivery. DBS checks apply for new joiners.

Responsibilities

• Co-ordinate the diary and day-to-day operations of allocated care centre(s).
• Manage fleeting requirements and ensure the fleet is clean and full.
• Maintain equipment and train colleagues in proper use.
• Prioritise safety and security procedures for colleagues, Members and clients.
• Perform daily safe and legal checks to keep homes risk-free.
• Ensure paperwork for deaths (mortuary register, ashes register, ID processes) is accurate.
• Manage stock and ordering of coffins.
• Work with Funeral Operations Lead to support skills development and training.
• Monitor budget and scorecard performance to meet targets.
• Audit work schedules for full coverage and accurate pay.
