Job summary

Everpool Recruitment is seeking a Functional Assessor (WCA) for Milton Keynes. This hybrid, full-time role pays £48,000 per year, rising by £1,000 at 12 months. You must be a registered Nurse, OT, or Physio with at least 1 year post‑registration experience in an adult setting and have full right to work in the UK.

Paid training is provided. You will conduct detailed assessments by telephone or face-to-face, review medical evidence, and produce clear medical reports to support benefit entitlement

Qualifications

• Must be a registered Nurse, OT, or Physio.
• Minimum 1 year post-registration experience in an adult setting.
• NMC/HCPC registered.
• Full right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship).

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed work capability assessments via telephone or face-to-face appointments, focusing on how health conditions affect a claimant's day-to-day tasks, functional ability and ability to work.
• Use clinical judgment to evaluate a wide range of physical, cognitive, and mental health conditions.
• Review medical evidence and gather in-depth clinical histories through structured, empathetic conversations.
• Produce clear, objective medical reports that support benefit entitlement decisions.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, sharing expertise and ensuring best practice.
• Utilise modern systems and technology to document findings accurately.

Full Time – Hybrid - Monday-Friday, 9-5
Part time - Hybrid - 3/4 days

What You’ll Do:

• Conduct detailed work capability assessments via telephone or face-to-face appointments, focusing on how health conditions affect a claimants day to day tasks, functional ability and ability to work.

• Utilise modern systems and technology to document findings efficiently while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.

Paid Training:

• Full Training Provided: 12 weeks of paid, structured training – covering assessment skills, DWP guidelines, and report writing.
• No annual leave during the first 6 weeks

Who Can Apply (Must Have All):

• Registered Nurse, OT, Physio
• Minimum 1-year post-registration experience in an adult setting
• NMC/HCPC registered
• Full right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
• Strong clinical knowledge of long-term conditions and functional assessment
• Excellent written communication and objective report writing skills
• Confident IT skills – ability to talk, type, and navigate multiple systems simultaneously
