Job summary

Everpool Recruitment is seeking a Functional Assessor for a hybrid role in Slough. You will conduct disability assessments by phone or face-to-face, focusing on how conditions affect functional ability and work capacity.

The role requires NMC/HCPC registration with at least 1 year post-registration experience. You will produce objective medical reports and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team while using modern systems for accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• NMC/HCPC registered with full right to work in the UK.
• 1 year post-registration experience in an adult setting.
• Registration with a recognised nursing or allied health profession and clinical knowledge of long-term conditions.
• Excellent written communication and objective report writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed disability assessments by telephone or face-to-face, focusing on functional ability and work-related impact.
• Evaluate a wide range of physical, cognitive, and mental health conditions using clinical judgment.
• Review medical evidence and gather in-depth clinical histories through structured discussions.
• Produce clear, objective medical reports to support benefit entitlement decisions.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure best practice and shared expertise.
• Utilise modern systems to document findings accurately and efficiently.

Functional Assessor (WCA)
Location: Slough
Salary: £50,000 (rising by £1,000 at 12 months - Performance based)
Nurses | OTs | Physios
Full Time - Hybrid - Mon-Fri, 9-5
Part time options - 3 or 4 days
What You’ll Do:

• Conduct detailed disability assessments via telephone or face-to-face appointments, focusing on how health conditions affect functional ability and ability to work (WCA).
• Use your clinical judgment to evaluate a wide range of physical, cognitive, and mental health conditions.
• Review medical evidence and gather in-depth clinical histories through structured, empathetic conversations.
• Produce clear, objective medical reports that support benefit entitlement decisions.
• Collaborate with a supportive multidisciplinary team, sharing expertise and ensuring best practice.
• Utilise modern systems and technology to document findings efficiently while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.

Paid Training:

• Full Training Provided: 12 weeks of paid, structured training - covering assessment skills, DWP guidelines, and report writing.

Who Can Apply (Must Have All):

• Registered Nurse, OT or Physio
• Minimum 1-year post-registration experience in an adult setting
• NMC/HCPC registered
• Full right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
• Strong clinical knowledge of long-term conditions and functional assessment
• Excellent written communication and objective report writing skills
• Confident IT skills - ability to talk, type, and navigate multiple systems simultaneously
