Job summary

Everpool Recruitment in Guildford is hiring a Functional Assessor for a hybrid, full-time role. Expect a Monday–Friday 9am–5pm schedule with an option for 3/4 days part-time. Training provided and clear progression paths.

You will assess claimants, review evidence, and produce precise reports for the DWP, requiring clinical reasoning and strong communication. Salary £40,000–£42,000 with a £1k increase at 6/12 months based on performance.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of post-registration experience in an adult setting.
• Active NMC/HCPC or GPHC registration for the role.
• Excellent communication and assessment skills.
• Strong report-writing and typing abilities.
• Proficient IT skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Conduct telephone and face-to-face assessments with claimants.
• Evaluate how health conditions affect daily activities and work.
• Review medical evidence and health questionnaires.
• Ask detailed questions about functional ability.
• Apply clinical reasoning to produce clear, objective reports for the DWP.
• Make recommendations based on assessment findings.

Hybrid Role

Full-time | Monday-Friday | 9am-5pm

Part time available - 3/4 days

Location: Guildford

Salary: £40,000 - £42,000 - (+ 1k at 6/12 months - performance based)

What you need:

• At least 1 year of recent post-registration experience in a relevant adult setting
• At least 1 year of active NMC, HCPC or GPHC registration
• Strong communication and assessment skills
• Excellent report-writing and typing skills
• Good IT skills
• The ability to work independently and manage your own caseload
• PIP assessments - 3 a day
• WCA assessments -5/6 a day

What will you be doing? As a Functional Assessor, you will:

• Conduct telephone and face-to-face assessments with claimants
• Explore how health conditions affect everyday activities and work
• Review medical evidence and health questionnaires
• Ask detailed questions about functional ability
• Use your critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills
• Produce clear, accurate and objective reports for the DWP
• Make recommendations based on your assessment findings
