Job summary

Maven Group Ltd is recruiting a WCA Functional Assessor to support DWP casework. You’ll conduct up to five client assessments daily by phone, video or in person, gathering information to inform a factual report on disability or health impact.

Your role is to collect information; final decision rests with the DWP. You’ll receive comprehensive training and ongoing support, with a starting salary of £39,500 per year.

Qualifications

• NMC or HCPC registration is required.
• At least 1 year post-registration experience in relevant field.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Competent IT and computer skills.
• Willingness to work with a diverse range of conditions, including mental health.

Responsibilities

• Carry out 5 client assessments per day via telephone, video or face‑to‑face.
• Ask questions, listen, and gather information to produce a factual report for DWP.
• Support the assessment process with training and supervision provided.

Job description

What does the WCA Assessor role involve?

The Functional Assessor role will involve you carrying out 5 client assessments per day. A typical day will see you carry out telephone, video or face-to-face assessments to understand how a person's disability or health condition affects their daily life. You’ll listen to their experiences, ask questions and use your insights to produce a factual report to help the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) determine their eligibility for benefits. That's the good news; the DWP make the final decision, you don't. Your role is to gather information and produce the report.

What we look for;

• An NMC registered nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD) OR a HCPC qualified Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Paramedic or Pharmacist) with 1 year’s or more broad post-registration experience
• Someone who’s proactive and keen to learn
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Competent IT and computer skills
• Comfortable working with a diverse range of conditions, including mental health

No experience as a WCA Functional Assessor is needed as full training will be provided which you will be paid your full-time salary for. All we expect is that you will have 1 years post graduate experience as an RGN, RMN, RLND, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Paramedic or Pharmacist and hold an NMC or HCPC registration.
