Job summary

Maven Consulting Group Ltd in Aberystwyth is recruiting a WCA Functional Assessor to join a well‑established team supporting the DWP.

The role involves assessing up to five client cases per day via telephone, video or face‑to‑face evaluations and producing factual reports to inform benefits decisions. On-site in Aberystwyth with hybrid/home working options and a starting salary of £39,500 per year.

Qualifications

• NMC registered nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD) or HCPC qualified professional with post‑registration experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and competent IT abilities.
• Comfortable working with a diverse range of conditions, including mental health.

Responsibilities

• Carry out up to 5 client assessments per day for Work Capability Assessment (WCA).
• Conduct telephone, video or face‑to‑face assessments and produce factual reports for DWP decisions.
• Support a well‑established, people‑focussed organisation with training and development.

What does the WCA Functional Assessor role involve?

The Functional Assessor role will involve you carrying out 5 client assessments per day who are claiming for WCA (Work Capability Assessment). A typical day will see you carry out telephone, video or face-to-face assessments to understand how a person's disability or health condition affects their ability to perform work-related activity. Youll listen to their experiences, ask questions and use your insights to produce a factual report to help the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) determine their eligibility for benefits. That's the good news; the DWP make the final decision, you don't. Your role is to gather information and produce the report.

What we look for;

• An NMC registered nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD) or HCPC qualified Physiotherapist, Paramedic or Occupational Therapist with 1 years or more broad post-registration experience
• Someone whos proactive and keen to learn
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Competent IT and computer skills
• Comfortable working with a diverse range of conditions, including mental health
