Job summary

Maven in Workington is recruiting a WCA Functional Assessor. The role involves carrying out five client assessments per day (telephone, video or face-to-face) to understand how a health condition affects work-related activity.

You will produce factual reports to support DWP decision making. NMC/HCPC registered professionals with strong communication and IT skills are sought; hybrid or on-site options in Workington with a 9–5, Mon–Fri schedule and a starting salary of £39,500 per year.

Qualifications

• NMC/HCPC registered professionals with 1+ year post-registration experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Competent IT and computer skills.
• Comfortable working with a diverse range of conditions, including mental health.

What does the WCA Functional Assessor role involve?

The Functional Assessor role will involve you carrying out 5 client assessments per day who are claiming for WCA (Work Capability Assessment). A typical day will see you carry out telephone, video or face-to-face assessments to understand how a person's disability or health condition affects their ability to perform work-related activity. You’ll listen to their experiences, ask questions and use your insights to produce a factual report to help the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) determine their eligibility for benefits. That's the good news; the DWP make the final decision, you don't. Your role is to gather information and produce the report.

What we look for;

• An NMC registered nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD) or HCPC qualified Physiotherapist, Paramedic or Occupational Therapist with 1 years or more broad post-registration experience
• Someone whos proactive and keen to learn
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Competent IT and computer skills
• Comfortable working with a diverse range of conditions, including mental health
