Job summary

Maven Group Ltd in Carlisle is seeking a WCA Functional Assessor to join our team. You will carry out up to five client assessments per day for Work Capability Assessments, using telephone, video or face-to-face formats, and produce factual reports to support DWP decisions.

We require an NMC-registered nurse (RGN/RMN) or HCPC-registered Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist with at least one year post-registration, with excellent communication and IT skills and a proactive, learner mindset.

Qualifications

• NMC registered nurse (RGN or RMN) or HCPC qualified Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist with 1 year’s post-registration experience
• Proactive and keen to learn
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Competent IT and computer skills

Responsibilities

• Carry out 5 client assessments per day for Work Capability Assessments (WCA) via telephone, video or face-to-face
• Produce factual reports to help the DWP determine eligibility for benefits
• Gather information and ask questions to understand how health conditions affect work-related activity

• Excellent starting salary at £39,500pa
• Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm working hours
• Full time and part time available (3, 4 or 5 days per week available)
• Carlisle based when working on-site

What does the WCA Functional Assessor role involve?

The Functional Assessor role will involve you carrying out 5 client assessments per day who are claiming for WCA (Work Capability Assessment). A typical day will see you carry out telephone, video or face-to-face assessments to understand how a person's disability or health condition affects their ability to perform work-related activity. You’ll listen to their experiences, ask questions and use your insights to produce a factual report to help the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) determine their eligibility for benefits. That's the good news; the DWP make the final decision, you don't. Your role is to gather information and produce the report.
