Job summary

Axcis Education in St Austell is seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEND in a specialist setting. The role runs Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, with daily rate of £94–£98, and involves helping pupils access learning, develop communication and social skills, and participate in activities across the school and community.

The ideal candidate is warm, patient, resilient, and able to build strong relationships with pupils and staff.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND is essential.
• Experience within a specialist school or supporting pupils with complex learning needs would be particularly beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with daily learning and activities.
• Provide individual and small-group support as needed.
• Help pupils develop communication and social skills.
• Encourage greater confidence and independence.
• Support pupils with their learning and development needs.
• Assist pupils to participate in practical and creative activities.
• Support pupils in activities within the wider community.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Maintain a calm and consistent approach throughout the day.
