Job summary

Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND secondary in Truro. You will support pupils with additional and complex learning needs, helping them access lessons and build essential life skills. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, with a pay rate of £94–£98 per day.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Experience in a school, specialist provision or similar setting.
• Understanding of complex learning needs and the challenges pupils may face.
• A calm, patient and flexible approach.
• The ability to build rapport and develop trusting relationships.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to get involved.
• Experience supporting pupils with complex needs would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Providing individual and small-group support throughout the school day.
• Helping pupils access lessons and engage with classroom activities.
• Supporting the development of communication, independence and social skills.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting a structured learning environment.
• Adapting your approach to meet pupils' individual learning needs.
• Building positive and supportive relationships with pupils.
• Working collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure pupils receive consistent support.
