Job summary

Government Recruitment Service in Heanor is recruiting a Verification Assurance Officer (Central) to join a new team tackling fraud on the frontline. You will interview claimants and work with Jobcentre colleagues to verify identifications, housing and childcare costs within Universal Credit, both on-site and face-to-face.

The role focuses on preventing fraud entering the welfare system, educating claimants about responsibilities, and delivering robust verification processes across sites.

Qualifications

• Experience interviewing claimants and verifying documents for identification, housing costs and child care elements.
• Ability to educate and raise awareness of fraud responsibilities to colleagues and customers.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with Jobcentre colleagues to tackle fraud.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Jobcentre and Service Centre colleagues conducting initial evidence interviews and verification activities.
• Conduct robust interviews where there is suspicion on document validity for verification of Identification, housing costs, children and childcare costs elements of Universal Credit.
• Conduct review meetings with customers where Enhanced Review Team and customer agree to bring in evidence to a Jobcentre.
• Provide regular feedback at office meetings on fraud trends and how to detect them for specialist risk and intelligence teams within DWP.
• Lead customer education sessions with Jobcentre colleagues to clarify customer responsibilities and consequences of non-compliance.
• Collate and maintain accurate Management Information (MI) as directed by analysts and performance teams.
