Job summary

North Yorkshire Council seeks a casual Visitor Experience and Event Assistant for The Mercer Art Gallery and Royal Pump Rooms (Harrogate, Knaresborough) venues. You will welcome visitors, handle information, and process sales while helping to set up events and maintain high standards.

Role requires flexibility to work evenings/weekends across venues, joining a supportive team and benefiting from local government pension, holiday pay and staff wellbeing services.

Qualifications

• Experience in visitor services or events is preferred.
• Able to work evenings and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide a professional visitor experience, welcoming visitors and giving information.
• Process retail and box office sales.
• Support the delivery of events, performances and private bookings.
• Set up rooms, seating and equipment for events.
• Assist with bar operations and hospitality services.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and safety.
• Support visitor engagement activities for diverse audiences.
