Job summary

York College welcomes applications for a Welcome Desk Officer at Sim Balk Lane campus. You will be the first point of contact for visitors, students and staff, delivering a friendly, professional and efficient service across face-to-face, email, telephone and online chat.

This 24-hour-per-week post runs during term time (39 weeks a year) with hours 8:00am–4:30pm on Monday, Thursday and Friday. You will have GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) and proven customer-service experience, plus IT

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in delivering excellent customer service in a large, complex environment.
• Level 2 English and Maths qualifications (GCSE C/4+ or equivalent).
• Proficient in IT applications, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel; experience with database systems is advantageous.
• Thrives in a busy environment with strong organizational skills and ability to prioritise tasks.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and provide front-desk assistance across multiple channels.
• Answer queries, triage to appropriate service, and perform administrative tasks.
• Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure a smooth and positive experience for all.
