Job summary

AGS is seeking an experienced Operations Clerk to join a busy, site-based team. The role focuses on managing daily workflows, handling HMRC matters, and ensuring accurate inventory movement in collaboration with Operations, Warehouse, and other functions.

You will need strong communication and organisational skills, with a proactive approach to process improvement. A 4 days on / 4 days off rotating shift pattern applies to the role.

Qualifications

• Experience in freight forwarding or logistics environments.
• Strong understanding of import processes for Sea, Air and Road.
• Familiarity with customs procedures and HMRC interactions.
• Proactive mindset with ability to improve processes.
• Reliable attendance and timekeeping.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily and weekly operational activities to meet deadlines.
• Handle HMRC matters including holds, seizures and post-clearance amendments.
• Follow established procedures and training documents.
• Coordinate with Warehouse Supervisors to ensure accurate inventory movement.
• Own assigned work and complete tasks within timescales.
• Maintain clear progress updates with colleagues and management.
• Escalate issues promptly and propose efficiency improvements.
• Support corrective actions and learn from errors to prevent repeats.
• Keep up-to-date with customs process developments and requirements.
• Adapt to new systems, procedures and ways of working.
