The National Trust is renowned for its food and hospitality. We run 185 cafes all over England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and we'd love you to join us.

We’re looking for a Food and Beverage Team Leader to join us for the coming season, ideally flexible and able to work weekdays and weekends/bank holidays on a rota basis.

You would be working within a small friendly team to meet the needs of the business as well as helping to create the best possible day out for our visitors. Because we are in a rural area, please think about how you’d be able to get here for work, before applying for the job.

Hours

1050 hours per year. This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year.

£13,387.50 pro rata (FTE £24,862.50 per annum)

What it’s like to work here

We are a coffee shop on a small property, although small it can be busy during peak times, we have a wonderful team that love what they do.

What you’ll be doing:

This is a customer facing role and would include using the till, creating a variety of hot drinks and serving cakes, bakes and savouries while also washing dishes and cleaning.

As a Team Leader, you’ll be giving day‑to‑day support to your team, to make sure they’re consistently giving great service to everyone who comes to the café. This is a busy, lively place to work, so you’ll need to be adaptable. Using computer systems to order stock, check off invoices and cashing up so you would need to be confident in using a computer, all training will be given.

Your focus will be front of house, dealing directly with people and serving them food and drink. Crucial to this role will be your love of working with people, your positive ‘can‑do’ attitude and your desire to provide an outstanding service.

Using your excellent eye for detail, you’ll make sure all displays and signs are accurate, and that the food is looking good. At times, you may need to help the kitchen team with preparing food.

You’ll also be supervising the induction and training of colleagues, to help build a team that’s dedicated to great service and to giving people a day to remember.
