Job summary

The Woodlands School is a specialist provision for children and young people with Autism and/or Social Communication Difficulties, all the students have Education, Health and Care Plans as their needs are long term.

Flexi Teaching Assistant positions are part-time, 25 hours per week during term time, 9:30am–2:30pm, Monday to Friday. The role requires teamwork, reliability and a calm, respectful communication style, with willingness to swim as part of the curriculum.

Qualifications

• Experience is not necessary but a passion to support children and young people with special educational needs is essential.
• You will be working alongside at least two other teaching assistants so you must be able to work in a team.
• It is essential that the successful candidate is able to communicate clearly in a calm and respectful manner, be reliable and trustworthy and work within the school’s policies, including safeguarding and child protection.

• All candidates must be suitable to work with vulnerable children and adults. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with special educational needs in planned activities.
• Collaborate with at least two other teaching assistants.
• Follow safeguarding policies and school procedures.
• Move between campuses as required.
• Engage with swimming sessions as part of the curriculum.
