Job summary

Linwood School's Springwood Campus in West Howe is seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to support students with autism and complex needs. The role is permanent and involves a 30-hour week during 39 weeks per year, with potential for fewer hours and a minimum commitment of two full days.

You will work under a class teacher to provide targeted support, foster engagement, and maintain detailed records in a nurturing, trauma-informed environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with children and young people with autism is desirable but not essential.
• Commitment to safeguarding and DBS checks.
• Ability to communicate effectively using a range of tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to students to facilitate academic and social progress under the direction of the class teacher.
• Create a structured and nurturing environment that promotes student engagement.
• Assist and encourage students to remain on task.
• Offer emotional support, utilising positive behaviour reinforcement techniques via trauma informed approach.
• Provide personal care for pupils and appropriate medical treatment following individual care plans.
• Ensure that students records are kept up to date and in line with current guidance, under the direction of the class teacher.
