Job summary

Smile Education Recruitment is recruiting for a Resource Base teacher in Birmingham (B8). This full-time role from September 2026 supports pupils with complex needs within a Primary Resource Base, working with a SENDCo and a team of SEND Teaching Assistants.

The position requires QTS and recent UK teaching experience, with a focus on ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and related needs. Strong behaviour management and independent working are essential. Applications from confident, flexible teachers are welcomed.

Qualifications

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Have recent UK-based teaching experience.
• Have experience supporting and teaching children with Special Educational Needs.
• Be confident adapting lessons to meet a range of learning needs.
• Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills.
• Be able to work independently and use your own initiative.
• Be available to work school hours of 8:15am – 3:30pm.
• Provide a minimum of two professional references covering the last two years, including comments on your work with children.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new DBS through Smile Education

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
• Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language Needs, and Moderate Learning Difficulties.
• Create a positive and supportive learning environment.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual pupils.
• Manage behaviour effectively and promote positive outcomes.
• Work collaboratively with support staff and other professionals.
• Follow school policies and EHCP targets where required.
