Job summary

Compass Community is seeking a Children’s Support Worker on a flexible hours, zero hours contract to support our residential homes and specialist schools across the NE region.

You’ll build trusting relationships, support emotional wellbeing and independence, and help children participate in education and daily routines in different settings.

Travel across NE5, NE8, NE9, NE6 and NE32 may be required to cover homes and schools, with safeguarding at the heart of everything you do.

Qualifications

  • Experience in residential childcare, education, youth work or social care is beneficial but not essential.
  • Full UK driving licence is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
  • Support emotional wellbeing, confidence and independence.
  • Encourage participation in education, activities and daily routines.
  • Provide a safe, caring and nurturing environment.
  • Support positive behaviour using safeguarding-focused approaches.
  • Assist learning and classroom activities in specialist schools.
  • Help children develop life skills and achieve personal goals.
  • Work alongside Residential, Education and Therapeutic teams to safeguard wellbeing.
