Job summary

NatCen is seeking a Biomedical Fieldworker to conduct home visits across various UK locations. You will collect health data and blood samples, take measurements, and ensure confidentiality while delivering a professional participant experience.

Flexibility, independence, and the ability to manage a diary within guidelines are essential. DBS clearance and Hepatitis B immunity are involved; driving is required for assigned areas.

Qualifications

• Healthcare professional with clinical experience.
• Registered healthcare professional status is advantageous but not essential.
• Proven venepuncture within the last 24 months.
• Evidence of current Hepatitis B immunity.
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Willingness to travel across your assigned work area (typically 60–90 minutes from location).
• Reliable home broadband connection.
• Availability of approximately 12–16 hours per week across weekdays, evenings and weekends.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Willingness to complete the DBS vetting process.

Responsibilities

• Visiting participants in their homes at pre-booked appointments.
• Taking physical measurements such as height, weight and blood pressure.
• Collecting venous blood samples in line with clinical guidelines.
• Recording accurate health data and maintaining confidentiality.
• Providing a professional, friendly and reassuring experience for participants.
• Supporting high quality research that informs public health decisions.
