A leading construction firm is seeking a Financial Controller to oversee the finance function. The role involves managing accounts, producing financial reports, and supporting strategic planning. Ideal candidates will have strong analytical skills and experience in construction or property sectors.
About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing construction firm seeking an experienced and capable Financial Controller to take full ownership of its finance function. This is a strategic and hands-on role requiring strong financial acumen, leadership capabilities, and a drive for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all aspects of the finance function, including accounts receivable and payable.
Oversee bookkeeping and ensure accurate maintenance of the general ledger.
Manage invoicing, commission payments, payroll processing, and cash flow forecasting.
Produce and analyse monthly management accounts, KPIs, and financial reports.
Track income and expenditure across projects or properties, producing profitability and joint venture calculations.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis across the business.
Identify cost-saving initiatives and drive process improvements.
Handle VAT and CIS returns, ensure statutory compliance, and prepare for audits.
Coordinate with external accountants and support year-end procedures.
Develop financial models and scenarios to assist strategic planning.
Enhance internal systems, controls, and financial documentation.
Provide financial insight to stakeholders and support commercial decision-making.
What We're Looking For

Effective communicator with the ability to convey complex financial data clearly.
Proficient in Xero and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Experience in construction, property, or related sectors is advantageous.
