Location: Holsworthy, England, United Kingdom - Hybrid - 3x p/w in office

WSR is delighted to be recruiting a Financial Controller on behalf of a highly regarded client based in Holsworthy. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on, commercially minded finance leader who thrives in evolving environments and wants to make a genuine impact.

If you enjoy strengthening controls, improving systems, and partnering closely with the wider business, this role offers both challenge and visibility. You'll play a key role in shaping finance operations as the business continues its transition into a new group structure, with real scope to influence processes, systems, and performance.

Financial Controller Role Overview

As Financial Controller, you'll take ownership of day‑to‑day finance operations while acting as a trusted business partner to senior stakeholders. You'll lead month‑end and statutory reporting, oversee cash management, and drive continuous improvement across the finance function, including the implementation of Sage 200.

Key responsibilities
  • Owning monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in line with UK GAAP / IFRS
  • Managing the month‑end and year‑end close, ensuring accuracy, control, and clear variance analysis
  • Strengthening financial controls, governance, and compliance frameworks
  • Leading budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and performance analysis
  • Acting as a finance partner to Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain on margins, pricing, and KPIs
  • Overseeing AP, AR, treasury, payroll interfaces, balance sheet integrity, and stock accounting
  • Supporting VAT compliance and liaising with HMRC
  • Leading internal and external audits and managing auditor relationships
  • Driving systems improvements, including Sage 200 implementation and BI reporting
  • Developing and mentoring the finance team, creating a positive, high‑performance culture
Financial Controller Qualification, experience and skills

You'll be a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with strong technical foundations and a practical, solutions‑focused mindset. Comfortable in fast‑moving environments, you'll bring resilience, adaptability, and the confidence to improve processes where frameworks are still maturing.

You’ll ideally bring
  • 7+ years' post‑qualified experience in senior finance roles
  • Strong ownership of statutory reporting and month‑end processes
  • Solid knowledge of UK GAAP / IFRS, revenue recognition, inventory, and cash management
  • Experience improving controls, systems, and finance processes
  • Confidence partnering with non‑finance stakeholders and presenting to senior leadership
  • Strong Excel, ERP (Sage 200 preferred), and reporting / BI skills
  • A pragmatic, commercially aware approach with a continuous‑improvement mindset

  • 25 days holiday (increasing with length of service)
  • Private Healthcare and Digital GP access
  • Employee Assistance Programme

  • Enhanced Maternity and Paternity Pay
  • Enhanced Company Sick Pay
