Our client is an investor-backed software and professional services business which has secured significant funding from a leading Private Equity fund. They are now seeking an ambitious Financial Controller, to act as a right-hand person to the CFO. This person will help lead and develop a world-class finance function, and help facilitate the organisations continued growth as they move towards a high profile exit event. This is a hybrid working opportunity, which requires 3 day a week in their London HQ.

The Role:

Leading a small finance team to deliver timely and accurate reporting to all stakeholders, including:

Managing day to day accounting operations and month end processes – billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable (including overseeing credit control), cost and revenue accounting
Manage the monthly payroll process via an external payroll provider to ensure payroll is submitted and paid on a monthly basis
Responsible for researching and analysing technical accounting issues and their application to internal and external reporting
Develop an effective and efficient month end reporting process adopting a mindset of continuous improvement and using automation where possible
Lead on the internal year end process
Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts and regulatory returns.
Manage the core financial control environment, including regular reviews to identify any emerging issues

Responsible for the core financial systems required to enable the financial reporting including actively identifying opportunities for automation and removing friction by improving the use of systems.

The Requirements:

Fully qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA or comparable) with 3+ years’ post qualified experience
Have the confidence to work independently and communicate with senior stakeholders
Demonstrable experience identifying deficiencies and implementing improvements
Excellent experience of leading teams and developing talent, with the ability to delegate and manage effectively
High levels of personal credibility, professionalism and ethical standards
Computer skills - Advanced Excel / MS office
Systems experience - Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar
