VC-backed Tech Business – Life Sciences Sector

Location: Central London (Hybrid)

A high-growth, VC-backed technology company operating in the life sciences sector is recruiting a Group Financial Controller. This is a critical and high-profile role, reporting directly to the CFO, and comes at an exciting time in the company’s journey as it prepares for another fundraising round later this year.

The Group Financial Controller will take full ownership of the finance function, leading the core finance and accounting team. You will be responsible for all aspects of financial reporting and finance operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and banking and treasury. You will play a key role in month-end close, the preparation of management reporting packs, and the ongoing maintenance and updating of the budget, working closely with colleagues in FP&A and the CFO.

Given the stage and pace of growth of the business, you will also lead on external financial relationships with banks, lenders, auditors, and investors. You will oversee all statutory reporting requirements, manage the audit process, and ensure robust balance sheet management.

As the company continues to scale, there will be a significant element of project work. A key part of the role will be ensuring that financial processes and controls remain robust and scalable. You will also support planned international expansion, acting as the lead finance contact for new market entry initiatives, particularly in the US.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with proven experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, ideally within a VC or PE-backed business. You will be a confident leader with a strong track record of improving processes, enhancing controls, and driving value. Excellent stakeholder management skills—both internally and externally—are essential, along with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, evolving business.
