We are a dynamic and entrepreneurial SME operating in the renewable energy investment space, with a portfolio spanning solar, wind, and battery storage projects across the UK and Europe. As we continue to scale, we are preparing for a strategic sale or capital event within the next 24–36 months, and are building a robust financial infrastructure to support this goal.

We are seeking a commercially astute Group Financial Controller to lead and evolve our finance function during this critical phase of growth and value realisation. This is a newly created role, ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, hands-on environments and who has experience preparing businesses for sale, audit readiness, and investor-grade reporting. You will play a pivotal role in building financial rigour, improving controls, and enhancing visibility across the group and its investment entities (SPVs).

Key Responsibilities:

• Own and develop the group’s financial control function, including all reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance activities.
• Deliver accurate and timely consolidated monthly and quarterly management accounts, providing insight to the board and investors.
• Oversee audit and statutory accounts, ensuring readiness for investor scrutiny and due diligence.
• Implement and enhance financial processes and internal controls in preparation for a liquidity event.
• Partner with the CFO and external advisors on exit-readiness projects, including financial data room management, KPI tracking, and commercial analysis.
• Work closely with the investment team to support modelling, scenario planning, and exit valuation preparation.
• Ensure accurate and compliant reporting for all SPVs and investment vehicles.
• Lead and manage a small internal finance team and outsourced providers.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK GAAP / IFRS, tax, and regulatory compliance matters.

Ideal Candidate:

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant PQE in a senior finance role.
• Strong technical accounting skills, with experience in group consolidations, audit, and investor reporting.
• Proven experience in an SME or growth-stage business, preferably in renewable energy, infrastructure, or private equity-backed environments.
• Direct involvement in business sale preparation, due diligence, or private equity transactions is highly desirable.
• Comfortable building processes from the ground up and improving financial reporting systems.
• High attention to detail, strong commercial acumen, and excellent stakeholder communication.
• Background in fund or SPV accounting within an investment or asset management business.
• Experience working with private equity investors, advisors, or in a transaction-heavy environment.
• Familiarity with valuation processes and data room preparation.
• Passion for the energy transition and sustainable infrastructure.
