Financial Controller – Investment Management | Hybrid | Purpose-led Investment Manager

An established, independent investment manager is seeking a Financial Controller to lead core finance operations and help evolve the financial infrastructure of a fast-paced, values-driven environment.

Operating across private and public markets, this firm is known for its entrepreneurial culture, sustainable investment principles, and long-term focus across sectors like renewables, property, private equity, and wholesale finance. With over 250 people across European offices and a strong reputation for product innovation, the business blends financial performance with meaningful social and environmental impact.

The Role

Reporting into the Finance Director, you’ll take ownership of financial controls, reporting, and regulatory deliverables across the group, while managing a small team. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity suited to someone with sharp technical skills and a passion for improving systems, controls, and business insight.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly management accounts process across the group
• Own group accounting policies and ensure compliance with UK GAAP/FRS
• Manage FCA returns, VAT, and external audits
• Drive statutory reporting, consolidation, and control account review
• Develop the group’s financial data structures, systems, and PowerBI reporting
• Oversee outsourced support for international subsidiaries
• Supervise 3 finance team members

Ideal Candidate

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with 5+ years PQE
• Strong experience in financial reporting, controls, and team management
• Background in financial services or a regulated environment preferred
• Confident in FRS 102, VAT, and working with auditors
• Systems-minded, ideally familiar with Microsoft Dynamics and PowerBI
• Commercially aware, proactive, and a strong communicator
