Financial Controller – Group Reporting & Team Leadership

Location: Coventry, UK

Salary: Up to £85k (dependent on experience)

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Working Hours: 40 hours per week – Flexible hybrid working

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to lead a dynamic finance team and oversee group reporting across a growing, multi-entity business. In this key leadership role, you'll manage the financial control function, ensure timely and accurate reporting, and play a central role in group consolidation and balance sheet management.

As the business continues to expand organically and through acquisition, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to shape processes, support integration efforts, and work closely with senior leadership. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a finance team of 7 (including Financial and Assistant Financial Accountants), providing mentoring and performance development.
• Own the month-end close and group consolidation process — UK financials finalised by Day 5, and group reporting completed by Day 8.
• Deliver accurate P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting and analysis.
• Drive continuous process improvement across reporting and controls, supporting a scalable finance function.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to deliver meaningful financial insights and support business decisions.
• Assist with the integration of acquisitions into the financial reporting framework.

Candidate Requirements

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with 3+ years post-qualification experience.
• Strong background in group consolidation, month-end close, and technical reporting.
• Proven team leadership experience, with a focus on coaching and developing staff through change.
• Experience in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment — ideally PE-backed or within retail or services.
• Confident communicator and cross-functional collaborator; SAP FC or similar system experience desirable.
