Role:
This role is suited for an experienced, qualified accountant responsible for developing and implementing internal controls, co-ordinating management accounts and financial statements, and performing detailed financial analysis to support decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, hands-on experience in enhancing financial processes, and a proactive approach to ensuring compliance and driving financial excellence across the Group.
Key responsibilities:
Design and implement robust internal controls to mitigate risks
Ensure the accurate and timely production of management accounts for multiple entities.
Prepare financial statements for management and external stakeholders.
Perform in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and potential issues.
Oversee the design and implementation of new systems and processes.
Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting, developing tools as needed, to support commercial decision making.
Support development of a culture of financial operations throughout the Group via knowledge sharing and communication.
Provide expertise and guidance to colleagues at all levels on finance-related matters.
Compliance with relevant Group and company policies and procedures.
Proactive participation in change initiatives across the Group to achieve business results.
Identify opportunities for people, process or technology change.
Contribute to the review and remediation of incidents or breaches.
Engage collaboratively across the Group, to ensure a co-ordinated enterprise-wide approach to finance operations.
Ideal candidate:
Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar or supportive role.
Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification.
Accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent.
Strong technical background with experience with finance ledger software and systems.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and capable with VBA.
Proven experience in implementing internal controls and automation.
'Deep understanding of financial control operations.
Understanding of energy markets, trading strategies and financial instruments an advantage.
Adaptable to business change and skilled at working in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills – a confident, credible, persuasive, and collaborative team-player.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and articulate ideas to a diverse audience.
Demonstrate initiative by proposing solutions, acting independently, and confidently challenge the status quo.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
