Overview

Michael Page are looking for a self-motivated Financial Controller to lead the finance arm of the business. Reporting directly to the directors, the FC will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial of the business, as well as working closely with the directors and area managers to help ensure the smooth operations of the organisation.

They are seeking a Financial Controller who can support their exciting growth plans while driving the culture and performance of the finance function. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to make a real impact within a dynamic and forward-thinking business.

Description

This role will likely have the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities
  • Full ownership of the monthly management accounting cycle for the company reporting to the directors.
  • Preparation of the year end accounting pack and liaising with auditors.
  • Completion and filing of VAT returns.
  • Develop systems and process controls to provide robust control environment as per the needs of the company.
  • Generate sales invoices and recording receipts as necessary.
  • Controlling and analysing the purchases and making payments to Suppliers.
  • Managing creditors, and payment priorities.
  • Reconciling bank statements to Xero accounts regularly.
  • People Management: coach and develop the team members.
  • Oversee the payroll function.
  • Overseeing the payrolling of benefits.
  • Completion of the year end payroll documentation.
  • Dealing with any HMRC enquiries.
  • Undertaking of basic processing tasks as required.
Supplementary Tasks
  • Oversee the day to day running of the office.
  • Providing training and support for staff members.
  • Liaise with area managers to assist with the day to day running of the business.
Profile

A successful Financial Controller should have:

  • A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, or ACA).
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised whilst following company procedures.
  • Good organisational skills and time management.
  • Proven experience of managing a team within a busy operation.
  • Has a strong drive for personal development and learning.
  • The ability to build long-term relationships with staff, suppliers and professional partners.
